# Stateless Responses

> Use the Responses SDK interface without server-stored conversations.

`POST /v1/responses` supports synchronous JSON responses and SSE streaming through the configured provider. It requires `model` and `input`.

`output_text` is an SDK helper. Raw HTTP clients should inspect the `output` items and their content.

## Stream typed events

Using the same client:

## Send history directly

Responses are stateless in this release. The gateway sets `store: false`, including when you omit it. Send the conversation context your next request needs in `input`.

The following features are unavailable:

* `store: true` and stored-response retrieval or deletion.
* `previous_response_id` and provider-managed conversation continuation.
* `background: true` and background polling or cancellation routes.

Do not call SDK helpers that depend on these missing routes. Function tools and supported hosted [web-search tools](/guides/web-tools) are accepted. Use published Limitless `policy_ids` to add request-selected [policies](/guides/policies); organization and project policies apply automatically.

Reasoning, structured-output `text.format`, and image input formats depend on the selected model. Other hosted OpenAI tools, files, and stored platform resources are outside this endpoint.
