# Workspaces and members

> Invite teammates, manage access, and switch between workspaces.

A workspace groups your team, projects, policies and prepaid balance. Use the **Workspace** selector in the console sidebar to switch between your personal workspace and workspaces you have joined. Use the separate project selector to choose a project within that workspace.

Switching workspaces clears open forms, one-time key displays and the temporary Playground conversation. Your saved resources stay with their original workspace. API keys always belong to the workspace and project where they were created; switching the console does not move them.

## Invite a teammate

1. Select the workspace you want to share and open **Members**.
2. Choose **Invite member**, enter your teammate's email address, and select a role.
3. Create the invitation and check its delivery status. If prompted to share a link, copy the invitation link and send it to your teammate.
4. Your teammate opens the link, signs in or creates an account using that email address, then chooses **Accept invitation** after reviewing the workspace and role.

The invitation itself does not grant access. Only the verified, invited email address can accept it. An invitation addressed to an email alias must be accepted by an account using that same alias.

**Your invitations** shows invitations for the account you are signed in with. If a link is unavailable, check the signed-in email address or ask the workspace owner or admin for a new invitation.

## Roles

| Role | Workspace access |
| - | - |
| Owner | Manages the workspace, invites admins or members, and changes or removes their access. The owner cannot be changed, removed or leave through these controls. |
| Admin | Manages projects, keys, policies and workspace settings. Can invite or remove members, but cannot manage other admins or the owner. |
| Member | Uses Playground and reads projects, policies, customer-key metadata, usage, workspace members and settings. Cannot change workspace access/settings or create/revoke keys. Admin API key metadata is restricted to owners and admins. |

Owners can promote a member to admin or demote an admin to member from **Members**. Review the confirmation before applying the change.

## Manage invitations

The **Invitations** tab in **Members** lists pending and expired invitations. Use **Details** to view the recipient, role, expiry and copyable link. **Cancel invitation** prevents the recipient from accepting it.

Use **Renew link** or **Resend** to extend an invitation's expiry and request another email when email delivery is available. Wait at least one minute between attempts. The page reports whether email was sent, failed or could not be confirmed; a saved invitation can also be shared directly by its link. “Email sent” means the email provider accepted the message, so the recipient may still need to check their spam folder.

## Remove access or leave

Owners and admins can remove eligible members from **Members**. A non-owner can leave through **Workspace settings → Leave workspace** and return to their personal workspace.

Removing a member, leaving a workspace, or demoting an admin to member **permanently revokes all customer and Admin API keys created by that person in that workspace**. Requests already admitted may finish. Rejoining or restoring an admin role does not reactivate revoked keys; create replacements for any applications that need them.

Projects, policies, recorded usage and credits remain with the workspace when someone leaves.

Workspace access and settings changes are recorded in [Audit logs](/guides/audit-logs), together with other administrative changes. History begins when audit recording is enabled.

## Rename a workspace

Open **Workspace settings**, change the workspace name and choose **Save workspace name**. Owners and admins can save changes; members see the saved name, workspace ID and their role as read-only information.

Renaming changes the label shown in the console and invitations. It does not change API credentials, resource IDs or billing. If another administrator changes the same setting first, reload the latest state before saving again. For an interrupted operation, **Retry same request** recovers the original result without creating a second invitation or repeating a completed change.
